There are many reasons for back pain, proper diagnosis will help treat the problem effectively.

If you get up with a stiffness or catch in your back, disc bulge may be the primary root cause for your problem. Sedentary lifestyle, sitting for prolonged period of time, obesity, adopting a poor posture may all be contributing factors. Sitting on a soft cushioned sofa and sleeping on soft mattress may also add stress to your back.

Homemakers / housewives who do not sit for a long hours also suffer from back pain due to standing in the kitchen for cooking, washing vessels in the sink, watching TV while sitting on the sofa.

People who pose repetitive stress due to long commute to work, riding a bike, lifting heavy items leading to disc bulge in the back region suffer from severe back pain, stiffness and even sciatica. This leads to lower productivity and absenteeism from work. It affects their psychological well being by constantly affecting their mood.

Lumbar Spine

The main weight of our body is carried by Vertebral bodies and discs.

As we age, the disc degenerates, the nucleus pulposus in the disc may leak causing disc bulge and prolapse. This may cause discogenic pain. The damage can also happen when the disc is put through prolonged stress due to stretching of ligaments surrounding the disc which can no longer provide the support.
